A Tibetan Mastiff placement should be thoughtful, not rushed.

This application was built to match the Magnolia Heritage process and to help start an honest conversation. The goal is not simply to collect contact information. The goal is to understand whether our breed, our program, and a future puppy may be the right fit for your household.

Please answer as completely as you can. There are no perfect answers, but clear, realistic answers help us make better decisions for our dogs and puppy families.

Approved families may be considered for a future wait list.
Final puppy placement is based on fit, timing, and puppy temperament.

Household and property

Do you own or rent your home? What type of property do you have?

If you rent, written landlord approval specifically allowing a large guardian breed will be required before approval. If you have HOA, insurance, or municipal restrictions, please describe them below.

Rental, HOA, insurance, or municipal restrictions Please list all permanent residents in your household and their ages. Include adults, children, and anyone regularly in the home. Do all adults in the household want a Tibetan Mastiff and understand the breed’s guardian temperament?

Fencing and containment

Electronic or invisible fencing is not acceptable for a Tibetan Mastiff and is prohibited by our sales contract.

Gate, latch, and security details Where would the dog be outside? Please describe yard areas, acreage, shared fencing, livestock fencing, gaps, or unfenced areas.

Pets and breed experience Please list all current pets in your household, including breed/species, sex, age, temperament, and spay/neuter status. Have you ever owned a Tibetan Mastiff, giant breed, independent breed, primitive breed, or guardian breed before? If yes, please list the breeds and describe your experience. If no, tell us what preparation you have done for this type of dog. Tell us about your current and previous dogs, including breed, age, temperament, training, and whether they still live with you. Have you ever rehomed, surrendered, returned, or euthanized a dog for behavioral or lifestyle reasons? If yes, please explain the circumstances. This does not mean your application will not be considered as we understand that situations can arise that are beyond your control.

Guardian temperament and training What attracts you to the Tibetan Mastiff, and what concerns or questions do you still have about the breed? Managing the guardian instinct: Tibetan Mastiffs are territorial, instinctively protective of their property, independent, and often more alert at night. How do you plan to manage barking, visitors, delivery drivers, neighbors, guests, and community expectations? Training an independent thinker: Tibetan Mastiffs are intelligent, independent dogs that may question commands rather than automatically obey. How do you plan to train, motivate, and manage a dog that requires consistency, respect, patience, and clear boundaries? Training and socialization commitment: Our puppies require consistent, lifelong socialization and positive-reinforcement training to develop into stable adults. Are you willing and financially able to enroll your puppy in professional training classes, such as K9 Manners & More or an approved local equivalent, within the first three weeks of bringing the puppy home? What training methods or trainers have you used before, and what approach do you plan to use with a Tibetan Mastiff?

Lifestyle and expectations Describe a typical weekday in your household, including work schedule and how long a dog would be alone. Where would the puppy sleep and spend time during the day? How will you handle barking, seasonal coat, slow maturity, independence, protective instincts, and a powerful adult dog?

Puppy preferences and timing

What are you looking for? Preferred sex, if any

Describe your ideal temperament and what would make a puppy successful in your home. What is your timeline, and are you willing to wait for the right puppy?

Health care, contract, and lifelong support Long-term health care: Our contract requires delaying spay or neuter surgery until the dog is between 18 and 24 months old, unless a veterinarian determines there is a medical necessity. Do you agree to follow this timeline? What are your plans for veterinary care, grooming, containment, and long-term support? Veterinarian or clinic name, if you currently have one If you can no longer keep the dog at any point in its life, do you agree to contact Magnolia Heritage before rehoming? Do you agree to stay in contact with Magnolia Heritage and ask for support if challenges arise? What type of puppy are you looking for? Additional questions or information you would like us to know
